Trainspotting goes where many other films have gone before, but it blazes new trails in the process. By focusing on one man's slow redemption from heroin addiction, Boyle has allowed us to see the world through two lenses.
First, through the depressive eyes of a drug-addled mind, and secondly, through the eyes of a fully conscious, critically thinking man who is disgusted by a lifestyle he had so eagerly embraced before.
