Review of Towelhead (2008) by Jeremy P — 12 Mar 2010
A very brave, though imperfect, film about a 13-year old Arab American girl struggling to grow up amidst a group of adults that constantly chastise her yet act half their age.Toni Collette's character is a bit too convenient, but I can overlook that.
What we have here is a film that's not afraid to take digs at everything (all-Americanism, the Iraq war, even a black teenager trying to make a statement in the face of racism forgets all about it when he's promised sex).
