Review of Tout Va Bien (1972) by Richard D — 25 Jul 2009
An invigorating - and funny - exploration of the fallout from May 1968 gives way in the second half to a surprisingly tender analysis of a relationship overshadowed by politics and sexism.
Godard's trademark use of colour, framing and staging are all present and correct, and it doesn't leave the audience feeling like they've been shouted at or lectured for an hour and a half, unlike many of Godard's film from this period.
Well worth a watch, whatever your opinion on Godard.
