Review of Touch of Evil (1958) by Darryl J — 15 Jan 2008
Lucky for this story, Orson Welles was at the helm. This film had incredible cinematography and used the classic noir black and whites to it's upmost advantage. Many inventive shots were used in this film, namely the opening sequence.
The music added a lot to the film as well. As far as acting goes, Welles was what you would expect him to be. Awesome. I couldn't get too hooked on the story. Not that there was anything wrong with the plot, I just didn't find it too gripping.
Just another crooked cop and an intriguing murder mystery. I have to admit though, the Mexican overtone is something different and is definitely something that wasn't very often used in films of this type.
Overall, every noir fan should check this title out.
