Review of Touch of Evil (1958) by Ross B — 27 Feb 2010
Another great masterwork from the legendary Orson Welles. Charlton Heston and Janet Leigh are great as a well respected cop and his wife who unfortunately get tangled up in a murder case on their honeymoon.
Heston especially does a great job but the real star of the show is Orson Welles himself. As Captain Quinlan, he is a cop who has complete control of a county. He is so much larger than life that no one bothers to really check into him.
The film is also beautifully written and the film still holds up as great today. Orson Welles unfortunately was never fully understood by mainstream Hollywood.
