Review of Touch of Evil (1958) by Deke P — 06 Aug 2015
There is a reason that Touch of Evil is a classic. From the impressive opening tracking shot, to the meticulously paced plot and a tour de force from Orsen make up for whatever terrible makeup job Charlton Heston is sporting.
This is probably something that was not an issue when the film was first played, but now it's kind of jarring. It is a testament to the film however, that the sketchy blackface (or is it Mexicanface? Is that even a thing) is mostly forgotten by the midpoint due to the engrossing nature of the material.
