The leads are like two Volvos parked next to each other - high quality, but not much chemistry together, and it all goes downhill - rather slowly - from there.

Alfred had lost two of his collaborators before this film and he had a falling out with his long-time music director during the shoot.

The humorless script and strict studio involvement dampen things even more glumly. Noticeably missing something from the start.

Sad.

And the heaviness never really let up.

If you look, you will find the directors fingerprints here- overall tho, it just doesn't quite come together.

2 out of 5 spies on a slow, slow boat.
