For an 80's film, it's so much better than most of the production nowadays. Constant action, there's good romance in it(a bit too cheesy in my opinion), no boring moments thanks to the good screenplay (At least it's good enough to keep the audience entertained). Must be a lot of work for the director to get the shots for the jets despite the lack of technology to CGI, but still it takes a lot of planning and instructing from the director. I'm actually surprised how it only took 15 Million USD to shoot this movie compare to the movies nowadays where they use more money to shoot shitty productions, things are so much cheaper back then aye? But still they grossed 344 Million USD, so much more than most of the productions now(this reel deserves it).I guess it could be better on the last action scene, all the jet flying action didn't really get me, but yeah, 80's movies man? Gotta give credits for that! Anyway, It's so weird to see Tom Cruise so young. His acting improved a lot in his more recent movies though, especially Valkyrie. If you haven't watch it, go grab a copy now, it's definitely a good classic.

Oh yeah and one thing to top it off, I realize people nowadays judge movies on how realistic it is compare to what we see in real life and whereas movies back then focus more on telling the story(that explains why the romantic scenes are too cheesy for us). But if someone rewrites this without the cheesiness and wipe off the cliche's I think it'll make a fine production. Just my two cents. To conclude this, I'll give a honest 4/5. :).
