Review of Tooth and Nail (2007) by Lacy R — 02 Dec 2007
Oil reserves running dry proves to be the undoing of the human race in this version of the post-apocalyptic genre. The movie focuses on one group of survivors taking refuge in a hospital who, after rescuing a young girl, find themselves to become targets of the Rovers, a group of Mad Max cosplayers who delight in eating people to survive.
It's a B movie with all of the B movie expectations so don't expect oscar winning acting or dialogue. It's fairly predictable in terms of "who lives and who dies", but the twist *may* surprise some even if it isn't all that original. Micheal Madsen's brief cameo was a fun treat and Rider Strong proves why he belongs in the B movie genre.
This movie won't revolutionize the genre, but it was one of the more better done movies at the After Dark HorrorFest 08 and provides for some entertainment.
My only real gripe is that if they are going to have cannibals in the movie then offer some more gross out people-eating-people scenes. To be creeped out is why we watch these types of movie. And be sure to pass the salt.
