Review of Toni Erdmann (2016) by Simon T — 23 Jan 2018
Although overlong, this unusual black comedy also hits many true notes through its surreal story of how an estranged father and daughter find each other again via his infuriating and relentless jokiness.
Shot plainly in a semi-documentary style and well acted, it never reveals where it might go next, and ends as surprisingly as it began.
