Review of To End All Wars (2001) by Derek T — 01 Dec 2007
To End All Wars is a hidden gem - a film that has faded into relative obscurity, but that everyone should see. This film is the unofficial ancestor of Warner Herzog's Rescue Dawn, the recent film about a POW camp in the Vietnam War, and it deserves every bit as much attention.
To End All Wars is one of the best war movies I've ever seen, and certainly one of the most balanced and redemptive. Carlyle and Sutherland are exceptional, but all of the characters are well-crafted and cultivated.
In short, this is a movie that I believe my future students will need to see, because it will change them in a positive way.
