Review of To End All Wars (2001) by Becca R — 14 Feb 2008
It was extremely difficult to watch, but well worth it. It's not often that a film comes along with a combination of the themes of forgiveness and redemption through suffering. Much like Clint Eastwood's recent companion films Flags of our Fathers and Letters from Iwo Jima, this film succeeds in portraying both sides as the human beings that they really were who were placed in horrendous situations.
I found myself feeling compassion for the "enemy" as the protagonists began to forgive their captors. I highly recommend it, but it is not for the faint of heart.
