Review of Titanic (1984) by Dave A — 11 Apr 2015
The sinking of the Titanic is mostly dry and boring. Spicing it up with a class-conscious romance between a poor, but good-hearted artist and a bored and confined princess livens things up. It kinda quickly becomes obvious that Jack and Rose are just prompts to witness history.
These two star-crossed lovers give us a chance to run through the entire ship as it sinks. The film is pretty solid on special effects and accomplishes what it sets out to do: it tells us what's gonna happen and then both shows and tells what happens and then reminds us that it told us what was going to happen.
The visuals make up for the flaws in the story.
