Review of Titanic (1984) by Josh J — 05 May 2015
Not going to lie, I love Titanic. The romance as written is rather cheesy, but Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet have such great on-screen chemistry that they make it believable. I think the movie did a nice job of using fictional characters to connect the modern-day audience with the world of 1912, while mostly sticking to the facts when it came to the actual historical characters. The 2nd half of the movie in which the ship sinks is the greatest thing James Cameron has ever filmed, with the perfect blend of suspense, action, terror and tragedy. I also think the movie has one of the most beautiful film scores ever composed.
And yes, I did cry at the end.
