Review of 12 Years a Slave (2013) by Josh J — 05 Jun 2014
I felt pain for Solomon Northup and what he went through, and I feel like nothing was wrong with this film a marvelous performance by Chiwetel Ejiofor, the film was well deserving of its Oscar. It's not easy to view at all because it's so brutal to watch and sometimes even I had to turn away.
This is a wonderful adaptation to Solomon's memoir with great support by Michael Fassbender who was unlucky not to get a an Oscar for best supporting actor. The same goes for Chiwetel EJiofor also unlucly but some justice was done because Lupita Nyong'o won the prestigious award.
Overall I have to say this could well be one of my favourite films of all time, it's going to be very hard for Steve Mcqueen to back this film up with his next movie.
