Review of Titanic (1984) by Mike T — 01 Aug 2016
A mature, challenging love story with a few special effects to add in a modern twist. There was a lot of very watchable drama and plain old spectacle, I don't normally care at all about characters but a movie like this, had me glued to the screen because the "drama" was more interesting than a bunch of monsters and explosions.
Because it was so well acted, I fell in love instantly with the entertainment aspect of a harrowing, well-acted, STORY that views like reading Lord of the Rings or reading a masterpiece drama/story by Stephen King or George Orwell.
It's just that the characters and story were so before its time, that someone like me was mesmerized and glued to the screen by the drama and twists and turns, basically monsters and action done with words and acting rather than a bunch of car wrecks.
And don't forget about the explosions and chase scenes and violence at the end. Some of the best action spectacle in a pre-2000 movie ever.
