Review of Thumbelina (1994) by Kevin R — 19 Sep 2015
Your brain's so itty bitty.
A small girl who grows up unique from other children saves and falls in love with a fairy prince. She tracks him down deep into the depths of the woods and stumbles into some trolls and frogs. She is taken in the wrong direction making it a long shot to find her prince...but will true love prevail?
"His breath may be alarming, but he's charming...for a troll...".
Don Bluth and Gary Goldman, who collaborated on Rock-A-Doodle, Anastasia, All Dogs Go to Heaven, and Titan AE, collaborate again to deliver Thumbelina. The storyline for this picture is fairly cliché but fun to watch unfold. The animation is 90s spruced up 2-dimensional quality. The voices fit the characters well.
"You'll sing at the beetle ball. You'll be the talk of the town.".
I came across this on Netflix and decided to add it to the queue for my daughter and I to watch. This was fairly well done and very entertaining. This isn't a classic, but is worth watching with your child at least once.
"I think I'm going to marry him.".
Grade: C+/B-.
