I have to admit it. I kinda barely knew Frances McDormand existence. I mean, yes I saw her around, I liked her... but nothing serious. Then few months ago I saw this miniseries "Olive Kitteridge", and that was it, I was in love.
So when I read about this drama with dark comedy I knew I will have to go to the cinema to see it, as the role was perfect for her. And I am so happy I did. These brilliant film took my breath away for the full 2 hours.
There are no Star Wars or Marvels able to do that to me. Inside this 2 hours you'll find so many themes and emotions to make your head spin. Around the main one, dealing with grief and loss, you'll find a wild spectrum including racism, hate, anger, gender violence, euthanasia among others.
How difficult to deal with that using the right amount of drama? How difficult, especially, to deal with that using the right amount of humor? Very. Very difficult and this film does that in a sublime way.
A strong contender for the academy awards, and an almost sure win for McDormand.
