After watching the movie because of its Golden Globe nominated director and Lady Bird's controversy, I concluded that this movie was indeed better than Lady Bird. The films are different in context; one being a coming of age female teenage movie and this one being that of a mother wanting answers to her daughter's murder (spoiler.
Sorry). I could not empathize with the character Lady Bird and while I have not had anything as severe as what happened to the lead character in Three Billboards, I have had some tragedies happen to me.
It was more engaging while Lady seemed a little mundane and well boring. Just another little underprivelaged but not totally poor girl frustrated by her life's surroundings but has a way out of her so called hell hole.
