Review of Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (2017) by Jeff M — 10 Dec 2017
A brilliant leading role from Francis MacDormand as a mother finding it impossible to come to terms with the rape and murder of her child.
As the police investigation stagnates, she uses the billboards partly to restart her case but mainly to help keep the memory of her daughter alive as part of her grieving and misplaced guilt process.
Woody Harrelson supports well as the dying police cheif who is caught up in her grief and feels helpless towards her justified anger with Sam Rockwells clever eventual change of character.
Altogether a raw and visceral with comedic moments that serve as a welcome relief from the pain and finally a film with a clever ending....
(spoiler alert).
That only proves that she will never find her peace.
