Review of Thoroughbreds (2018) by Jon C — 11 Mar 2018
Some unbelievably good acting from both Ana-Taylor Joy and Olivia Cooke.
And this happens to be Anton Yelchin's last film before his tragic passing, sucks he isn't in the movie more.
But the focus here is two friends; one who feels everything and one who feels nothing.
This rich girl has a rotten stepfather so they decide to hatch a plan to murder him but both girls have a tough time deciding who should take the fall.
Maybe the only thing scarier in this world is being indecisive.
Nothing really funny per se in this but it's got a beating soundtrack, some talented actresses, and the crux of the whole thing doesn't build up until the end which is fine in itself.
This movie had the advantage of falling into every teen flick trope but actually avoided all of that.
Sometimes being rich and having a lot of support just isn't enough to make you happy, sometimes you might just have to kill to get your freedom.
Empathy or no empathy these two girls are bred from some flawed people.
