Review of This Sporting Life (1963) by Sean C — 08 Sep 2008
Richard harris: the closest thing to brando apart from brando. another amazing film from lindsay anderson, ushering in the era of the "angry young man" in british cinema. harris' performance is stunning (hard to believe he went on from this to do the filmed musical version of camelot) and calls to mind brando in streetcar in that ability to control a scene with seemingly minimal effort.
a heartbraking finish but the game goes ever on.
