Review of Things to Come (1936) by David K — 28 Oct 2009
An overly preachy, high-concept science fiction film that works as a propoganda film to rally the British for the certain coming of World War II. I don't know if the film really works as a whole. Arguing that progress is inevitable, human conflict is neverending, and science will rule all, "Things to Come" gets some things about the future spot on, but most of it is pure rubbish.
For the time, the special effects are great, but I think Hollywood is a testament that pretty pictures don't make great films. "Things to Come" is certainly no exception.
