Review of Thief (1981) by Matt C — 09 Jun 2012
There is a scene at the end of the first act where James Caan shows up late for a date with Tuesday Weld. The first part of their meeting is an awkward and downright lousy cluster of acting, dialogue, and action.
It's as if the two actors couldn't get on the same page or perhaps Caan was hungover or just could't deliver on take after take. But Thief is an example of a film that is so very good when it is good-most of the rest of the film- that we forgive its flaws.
