Review of Thesis (1996) by Francisco B — 30 Mar 2004
Freaky Friday--just a fun movie. Jamie Lee Curtis is so damned good at everything. :fresh: 7/10. Lost points for the ridculous flip flop of the young boyfriend. Eh.
MST3K: I Accuse My Parents--I am having too much fun with these movies. It was not as good (or bad, I should say) as Space Mutiny, but it still had moments of brilliance here and there. I want to marry CROW. :fresh: 8/10 I should rate it lower because there are probably dozens which are better, but I felt so good I gave it an 8.
Brother Bear--this damned movie made me cry. I liked it a lot. A bit sappy, but Rick Moranis & Dave Thomas were freaking hilarious as Canadian moose, eh. :fresh:
Thesis--Spanish film wherein a woman who is researching her thesis on violence in the media and in the family, runs across a snuff film. Her life is in danger when it is discovered that she has the film and you can guess what ensues. Chases, red herrings, some violence. Very suspenseful and well made film. It made me think of Mute Witness, but it's good enough to stand on its own. It is a film with a message, but it doesn't knock you on the head with it. At least, it didn't to me.
