Review of Then She Found Me (2007) by Ricardo H — 30 Oct 2008
A story about a woman in an unfullfilled marriage - biological clock ticking, etc. Marriage starts to fall apart and she falls for another man who's marriage also failed and is now raising his children alone.
The other half of the story is she was raised by adoptive parents and has one half-brother she is close to. After their mother dies her own (Midler) biological mother finds her. The film is more drama than comedy, though there are some light-hearted moments.
.there are good attempts here but I'm not sure this little movie ever decided exactly what it wanted to be. Not bad, not great. I enjoyed Midler, Broderick and Firth in this very much, but (though I love her) Helen Hunt seemed SO drawn and sickly in this and it seemed deliberate and I'm not sure why.
She directs this one too.
