Review of The Young and Prodigious T.S. Spivet (2013) by Aldair F — 24 Nov 2017
Whimsical fable about a 10 year-old maths prodigy who runs away from his uncommunicative farm-dwelling family to seek solace and recognition at Washington's Smithsonian Institute. Beautifully photographed and directed with uncharacteristic restraint by Jean-Pierre Jeunet, and only near-sabotaged by a wildly over-the-top performance by Judy Davis.
Luckily it has an affecting and natural lead in Kyle Catlett.
