Review of The Young and Prodigious T.S. Spivet (2013) by Sanchayan S — 31 Mar 2015
An incredibly layered story of sheer class infiltrating the orthodox way of storytelling following a certain structure. With this picture Jean Pierre Jeunet brings a fresh approach to layer in beautifully shot and detailed photography with such freshness that it pleases the subconscious more than the eye.
This film is an extremely stylistic , allegorical and probably something which will always stay under the radar for the general movie going audience. Having said all that this one to me is not a masterpiece and it's not perfect either.
There are certain flaws that are apparent . The performances lack a bit of depth specially from Catlett . It's not bad but it does not hit every mark. The other performances are pretty much two dimensional or certainly hit and miss type characters again with the exception of Carter.
But on the whole the film exudes good storytelling.
