Review of The Yes Men Fix the World (2009) by Tibor B — 16 Apr 2010
Frequently very amusing anarchic documentary about Bichlbaum and Bonanno, aka The Yes Men who expose corporate greed and human injustices through absurd or very ballsy media pranks. Some of the jokes work well, a ridiculous survival suit which elicits interest at a defence conference for example.
But others are just outright irresponsible such as a false claim that victims of a fertiliser factory explosion in India would be receiving compensation which led to shares plummeting. The fact that the comedy duo felt they needed to go to India to realise just what false hope they had raised for a few hours and then present themselves as heroes feels a bit self-righteous and perhaps even a very distorted version of the truth?
