Review of The Wrestler (2008) by Jake C — 22 Oct 2012
Fantastic movie. A very great character study of a beat up man, who lost his fame and success. But it's much deeper than that. Mickey Rourke plays one of the most sympathetic and enduring characters I've seen in film, in a while.
I think it's pretty obvious that Mr. Rourke was doing more than just acting in this film. It parallels his own life pretty similarly and he delivers such emotion. Everything about the film is great.
A true modern classic. Well done Mr. Aronofsky.
