Review of The World of Apu (1959) by Carl B — 12 Mar 2008
The trademark ray is at full display, as the final of the trilogy draws to a close. No adjectives can describe how ray tells the tumultuous adulthood of Apu. A painful and depressing flick, but so very beautiful and heartwarming.
The final scene of him leaving with his son, gave me goosebumps!! The best of neo-realist cinema. Jean Renoir would have definetely been proud of it.
