Review of The Wolf of Wall Street (2013) by Lindsey R — 22 Feb 2016
"The Wolf of Wall Street" is truly one of the greatest movies I have ever seen. It is oh so funny and incredibly entertaining. From nearly obnoxious characters to a vigorous dialogue, this movie really is one of the good ones. Martin Scorsese has created another absolutely outrageous, yet scary funny film. He has constructed an absolute savage movie yet somehow sticks to storyline and gives us a movie well worth watching. The astonishing amount of drugs, alcohol, money, lovemaking and eagerness for power will keep your attention for the entire three hours. The music also plays a huge role in doing so; constantly making you cringe or tremble over the scene at hand. "The Wolf of Wall Street" is so wild and out of control, it honestly impossible to stop watching it. With the length, sex, drugs, and profanity it is definitely not a movie to take your children to. I'm not sure I would even take my teens to it, but I am sure they would love to see it without parents joining them.
All members of the cast do a wonderful job in this movie, the stand out is obviously Leonardo DiCaprio, who pretty much owns and excels in any and all scenes he is in. This film really exposes him and all that he can do; he proves to be a likeable actor and a great leading man as he truly fits to be Jordan Belfort perfectly. This is my favorite movie he has ever been in even after watching "The Revenant," "Great Gatsby," "Catch Me If You Can" and so many other admirable ones he has been in. If it is your first time watching, I warn you to brace yourself. It will take you completely by surprise, but I honestly think nothing is out of place. If you do not like sex, drugs, and swearing, you probably should not watch this. Assuming you can watch it, it is a fantastic film, it has everything an exceptional movie needs. It is an adrenaline ride that never once loses its momentum.
