Review of The Wolf of Wall Street (2013) by Davis B — 10 Jan 2019
Until writing this review, I've been able to shut out the memory of seeing this movie on Christmas Day with my mom and sister. We made it through a feature-length's worth of vulgarity before leaving (let me emphasize, I would be embarrassed watching this movie with a hooker.
) only to find out it was just halfway over. Much like Leonardo DiCaprio, I was hooked, and I wanted more.
I saw it a couple of times in theaters after that (after one of the showings I saw a flipped over truck with a motionless arm sticking out of the drivers window at an intersection seconds before the firetrucks and ambulances arrived) and bought it the following Easter on iTunes. It rings emotionally hollow, and the only lesson it's trying to convey is: you either got it or you don't. Martin Scorsese definitely still got it. Old man.
