Review of The Wizard (1989) by Greg P — 01 Jul 2010
I remember seeing this movie in the theater back when I was a kid and thinking about how awesome it was with all of the video games they play and how cool the championships were and getting excited for Super Mario Bros.
3. Now twenty years later, I still love this movie (granted this is somewhat due to nostalgia). The Wizard has a pretty good story and some good characters that you really care about as a viewer. The acting here is pretty good, especially by Luke Edwards as young Jimmy.
Savage and Lewis are good in their roles and they play off each other pretty well. I thought that the "side story" with Bridges and Slater was also very fun to watch and see their characters bond.
Overall, this is just a fun, heart-warming movie that I highly recommend, especially if you're a child of the 80's looking to remember your youth or a gamer or today's generation.
