Review of The Wizard (1989) by Matthew J — 01 Nov 2012
I remember this movie from when I was a kid. I didn't care at a ll what the movie was about, I just wanted to see the Mario 3 sneak peek, but... honestly, did they have to make this BS story around the idea of getting to see that footage so stupid? I mean.
.. why couldn't this simply have been a documentary about how video games are made, how they are conceptualized, how they are put into game cartridges with the footage at the end? I would have been six billion times more interested in it, if it were that! Or hell, why not make a documentary about how gaming was changing the world, it probably would have been about ten minutes and we could have gotten to the footage a lot quicker! Oh yeah, the review.
.. this movie sucks, it's awful, dialogue is cheesy, kids emotionless and stupid, older kid doesn't seem like a kid at all, the girl is weird "He touched my breasts!" ... seriously?! Lucas was kinda fun in just how over-the-top he was, and you know that that kid in today's society would be considered the biggest nerd ever.
One star, not because the movie deserves it, but out of charity because I first saw Super Mario Brothers 3 in it. This movie deserves 0 starts. That game deserves praise, accolades, and... a parade.
