Review of The Wiz (1978) by Bob H — 25 Nov 2008
I can't imagine anyone who has seen the musical likes this movie. The cinematography is very poor. Technically a really poorly constructed film. I don't want to see Diana Ross' back when she's dancing! It's unthinkable that they cut two great songs from the film -- "I Was Born the Day Before Yesterday" and "Ya'll Got It.
" Diana Ross is beyond depressing ... she's nearly morbid. Michael Jackson is the one saving grace of the film. Not enough Nipsey, who is funny as always. And a great cameo by Richard Pryor as The Wiz.
