Dear Rob Zombie, THIS is how you make a witch movie, not that pretentious nonsensical garbage 'Lords of Salem'.
'The Witch' is utterly amazing, and genuinely unsettling.
Don't expect cheap jump scares or gratuitous gore, this is a slow-burn ratcheting up of the tension and discomfort with a perfectly matched nerve-wracking score; I don't remember the last time I found a 'horror' film (it's so much more) so effective, in no small way due to the impeccable performances of its cast, including some very young children who at times had me completely transfixed.
Robert Eggers has exploded onto the scene as a writer-director to watch closely, that's for sure.
A+.
