Review of The Wind That Shakes the Barley (2006) by Angie D — 17 Jun 2008
If you have never watched an Irish film make this your first because the acting performances of all are wonderful. It does a great thing: it horrifies you with regard to the violence and attrocities involved whilst warming you to the individuals whose very personal struggles form the subject of the film.
It reminds us of the emotion behind a religious nation's struggle for independence that still continues today. "If we ratify this treaty all we'll be changing are the accents of the powerful and the colour of the flag.
