Review of The Wind That Shakes the Barley (2006) by J.b. R — 23 Sep 2011
A masterpiece of a historical drama from Loach. His naturalistic style works perfectly with the story line and provides a welcome antidote to typical historical dramas. Everything from the camera placement to the photography to the understated effects and score work in harmony and while Loach's politics are in your face as always, he lets the story and the characters carry the film as opposed to making a "message" film.
