Review of The Wind That Shakes the Barley (2006) by Ajai K — 18 Aug 2014
Despite the fact that Anglo-Irish relations are probably better now than they have ever been the truth about Britain's history in Ireland is something that they just aren't ready for, and probably never will be.
Ken Loach's Wind That Shakes the Barley tells the essential truth about this period of bloody history and I also highly recommend the movie, Michael Collins, starring Liam Neeson. Have always love Michael Collins, the movie.
History seems always to repeat itself. Almost every country after fighting for their independence against the foreign sovereignty, they would immediately face their own version of civil war. People could somehow manage to find a way to disagree with one another and start to drift apart, far apart to both ends of the spectrum.
In my humble opinion, wars can never end as long as there are more than three people living on this planet. That may seem sad to hear but I think it is also heart-breakingly true in some way. Just as the two brothers in Wind That Shakes the Barley and in Michael Collins.
