Review of The Wild Bunch (1969) by Elliott F — 06 Aug 2012
An operatic morality tale disguised as a thriller, Sam Peckinpah's The Wild Bunch is a gloriously violent, heavy-handed revisionist western. Wonderfully subtle performances, especially from William Holden and Robert Ryan--both of whom have two of the saddest faces I've seen on film in some time.
Superb direction and a rightful classic, The Wild Bunch more than earns its reputation.
