Review of The Wild Bunch (1969) by Scott R — 17 Feb 2018
Apparently I'm more desensitized to violence in film than I thought. I'm reading from film critics that in 1969 this was the most violent film ever made. And its easy to see why that is, especially considering the new technology for blood spurts. And yet, I wasn't appalled by the violence. It seemed par for the course, especially for a western.
Also, considering that the film came out during the Vietnam War, it seems to me that there is an anti-violence message in the conclusion. No one really wins, and no one gets the gold.
