Review of The Wild Blue Yonder (2005) by Michael B — 19 Aug 2008
Amazing idea/story, but the imagery just didn't captivate me enough. Probably makes no sense saying this here, but go and watch Solyaris, the original Solaris, by Andrei Tarkovsky. This movie had something... but just can't even begin to touch Tarkovsky's film. Solyaris also had a strong idea behind it, but what made it so much more powerful was the human element, the problem of human memories, and guilt, and conscience. Unexpectedly, Werner Herzog has actually made quite a scientific science-fiction movie.
It's worth watching for it's main idea, and for the music.
