Review of The Wicker Man (2006) by Nic B — 06 Apr 2010
While the last 20 minutes of this absolute shocker are absolutely as hilarious and so-bad-it's-good as you might have heard (Nic Cage bikejacking a Woman in a Raven Costume at gunpoint, Nic Cage dressing up in bear suit and punching out several women), the journey to said hilarity is a mundane and perfunctory one.
This is a film so perplexingly terrible that it prompts numerous questions: Why would a studio green light a script so incoherent, ludicrous and INSANE? What purpose does remaking the 1973 film serve? What's with Nicolas Cage beating up women whilst WEARING A BEAR SUIT!?
One question easily answered is why Cage is in this train wreck at all - the actor's financial problems are well documented, but surely he's getting better offers than this!? Perhaps not.
