Now this is a really bizzare film, a remake of one of the most acclaimed horror flicks ever, it's hard to know what exactly to make of it, one things for sure, it's fucking hilarious! im not sure if it is intentional, but weather it is or not, this film is still something of a work of camp comedy genius, it almost appears to mock the horror genre and even the original film.
Nick cage is hysterically over the top, choice golden dialogue nuggets, AAAAAHHH THE BEES!!! NO!! THEIR IN MY EYES! AHHHH!!!!! (or) STUPID BITCHES! KILLING ME WONT BRING BACK YOUR GODDAMN HONEY!!! he is literally at his most maniacly unhinged in this film, and it's hugely entertaining to watch, it feels like he's in on the joke.
Even the typically shinning esc multiple rooms full of weirdo horrors at the end is odd and laughable, a woman with a beard made of bees? "rrriiiiiigght", and you cant go wrong with the amazing sight of nick cage dressed as a bear running right up to some oblivious woman and decking her, in fact you get alot of cage running around knocking out crazy ladies for your money, and id say thats money well spent indeed.
Odd, odd film.... but kinda wonderfull, and just great strange fun. Is this one of the great bad movies? or is it sheer genius? we may never know.
