Review of The Wicker Man (2006) by Martin B — 29 Jul 2010
Making a remake of the classic 1973 epic The Wicker Man is not an bad idea.
With modern equpiment, sound, technologies and budget the script holds vast possibilites to produce a great remake.
Too bad this one isn't just that.
There are some strange changes in the storyline, starting with the opening police-theme-part just killing the suspense that were so good in the original movie. and the pagan story has been transformed to some sort of crazy amazon-story.
The only parts that really works are the ones that are almost exactly as in the '73 film, as the scene in the school for exampel. But why watch this?
Watch The Wicker man of '73 instead, great music in that one too, that you don't find in this one.
