Review of The Wicker Man (1973) by Kallum S — 07 Apr 2012
The Wicker Man is unlike anything i've ever experienced watching a film. I tried to imagine myself back to 1974 to try and understand why this is a cult classic now in the present. I understand now because to watch this in 1974 must of been shocking to say the least.
I heard various things like its a horror/musical/chiller. You will watch from about 5 minutes in and think something is extremely bizarre about this film. It feels awry and creepy. Why is it so good? because its so different.
It doesnt follow the simple film narrative which you would expect. The sheer nightmare of being stuck on a island with people that are completely crazy is just undescribeable. It will literally give you the creeps and the ending, well i'll let you describe that for yourself, all I feel is complete shock.
excellent film.
