Review of The Wicker Man (1973) by Tyler S — 29 Jan 2016
A movie that may need a second view to fully grasp.
That being said, I was moved, and understood what the movie was trying to convey. It wasn't as much of a horror movie, than well...I'm not sure. It was strange for sure.
Part musical, part suspense, part mystery, this explores a police officer going to an island settlement to look for a little girl.
There he finds a strange culture of people, with strange practices, and religion of the most extreme order.
He knows something isn't right as does the viewer, which makes it intriguing.
It kept me in tune because I wanted to know what the hell was going on with these people.
It's so strange it's addicting and intriguing.
The ending lives up to the hype that I had been told, and I definitely was affected by it as it left a lasting, shocking impression on me.
A very well acted mystery film that leaves you asking many questions about the extremes of religion and how absurd it can be.
