Review of The Wicker Man (1973) by Benedict C — 20 Apr 2018
Not much of a horror film but rather good on the mystery front, "The Wicker Man" is a bit of an oddity. There's an unexpected amount of musical numbers and casual nudity and Hardy's approach can get pretty ethnographic at times, which, seeing as it's in tune with the script's themes of folklore, superstition and religion, is particularly interesting.
I can't say I was taken aback by the resolution but the finale is surely iconic in its design and execution, thanks also to Woodward's great turn.
