Review of The Westerner (1940) by Spencer R — 30 Jun 2008
Walter Brennan is great as "Judge" Roy Bean and Gary Cooper just can't give a bad performance. And although not nearly as good as High Noon, The Westerner deserves a lot more accolades than it has been given in the present day.
Plus Tiomkin's score, Toland's cinematography, and Wyler's direction makes this movie a true treasure. Also, it's kind of interesting to see Dana Andrews with no lines.
